- Truck & bus accidents. Mr. Shigley is a former Chair of the Southeastern Motor Carrier Liability Institute and serves on the national advisory board of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America. He has a successful track record in trying motor carrier liability cases and frequently speaks at national continuing legal education seminars on various aspects of truck and bus safety, technology, insurance and trial tactics. He represents parties in significant cases involving tractor trailers, big rigs, straight trucks, delivery trucks, dump trucks, concrete trucks, log trucks, tour buses, city buses, school buses, and all other large trucks and buses.
- Catastrophic personal injury. Ken Shigley has handled litigation on both sides of personal injury cases for 27 years, including cases of spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, burns, and back and neck injuries.
- Wrongful death. Ken Shigley started out as a prosecutor trying criminal cases of murder, manslaughter and vehicular homicide,. He has litigated on both sides of civil wrongful death cases since the early 1980's. His breadth of experience is useful in working through the obscure trapdoors of Georgia wrongful death law and insurance coverage law.
- Insurance Law. Mr. Shigley is a former chair of the Georgia Insurance Law Institute and the Tort & Insurance Practice Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He has worked on complex insurance coverage issues for 27 years.
- Defective products. Ken Shigley has successfully represented plaintiffs in seven-figure recoveries for catastrophic injuries based upon defects in motor vehicle roofs, seatbelts, seats, brakes, tires, as well as a variety of industrial equipment and consumer products. He handled the only known successful wrongful death products liability claim utilizing the treble damage provisions of the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act by classifying a forklift truck as an "office supply."
